Case Studies

We must protect the confidentiality of our clients, so it is not always possible to talk about what we have done, however here are a few we can talk about, if you do not see your particular issue, please still get in touch as we are very likely to be able to refer you to someone who has had a similar problem that has been resolved by Avon Armour.

Automatic doors

Automatic doors

As well as installing automatic doors to this high street bank we also lowered the entrance floor level to make it easy for wheel chair users to access the premises.

Automatic doors

Powered automatic doors

The Winter Gardens, Weston Super-Mare attract many elderly and infirm visitors. They had problems struggling with the doors and so both sets of doors were converted to powered automatic operation. Safety features were fitted to prevent the doors from closing prematurely on visitors who may hesitate in the threshold areas.

The staff in the theatre booking office had difficulties in communicating with people who have hearing and sight problems, they also needed a laminated glass screen and counter to meet The Equality Act 2010 (DDA).

The central section of the counter we designed is for wheelchair users. All of the three positions have voice amplification systems and ‘loops’ for hearing aid users. The anti-bandit screen has non-reflective glass for people with visual impairments.

School smart lock

School smart locks

A new primary school in South Gloucestershire was fitted throughout with Smart card locking. Every door now meets the FSRA (Fire Safety Reform Act). The locks are operated by simple on-board, triple ‘A’ batteries. Previously, the high cost of card locks prohibited thoughts of locking every door. These low-cost Smart locks have changed that thinking. Visitors and contractors are issued with ‘timed & dated’ cards so that they can’t be used during out-of-hours. Other cards are hired out to local organisations who want to use the School Hall for their meetings or activities.

Attack proof doorsAttack proof doors

Four masked robbers attacked the Avon Armour ‘Shotgun’ door with sledgehammers, axes and a shotgun. The door did not yield despite their determined efforts. The robbers aborted their attack and fled. There were no cash losses and the female cashiers were physically unharmed.

Historic Buildings doors

Historic doors

The wooden frame of the original window in this historic mansion had failed. Avon Armour manufactured and installed a secure version of the original.

Police station secure counters and rising screens

This constabulary wanted to make their ‘front offices’ more welcoming and also meet The Equality Act (DDA). Avon Armour installed the dual height counters and fitted electrically operated rising screens. These screens rise gently from a switch on the staff side. A small gap when the visitor is showing hostility or a large gap for face-to-face discussion.

Business park security grilles

Many business parks are vulnerable after dark. Avon Armour folding grilles reinforce the windows and doors. These grilles persuade potential thieves to look elsewhere for softer targets.

Military Gatehouse with armoured wallsBallistic windows and doors

This gatehouse is fitted with Avon Armour Ballistic windows and door. The walls are internally lined with armoured steel. The door and windows resist high velocity rifles. Further information can be provided but is restricted to authorised enquirers.

Seclusion room doors

Mental health hospitals often have Seclusion rooms to prevent self-harm. This Avon Armour door has no sharp edges on the inside. The vision panel is laminated glass and the frame is reinforced with concealed steel. The multiple locking is quickly operated by just a one-handed action. Keys are not needed.
